The Wonderfront Festival programming team literally spent over 6 months
researching and diving in deep on thousands of emerging artists across the many
genres featured on the Wonderfront Festival. And narrowed it down, narrowed
more, and then debated for hours and hours on who should get the offers and why.
It was an exciting process, and one that opened many of us up to new artists we
hadn’t even listened to ourselves yet. These artists either have new music out this
year, or will have new music coming out prior to the festival. And the research
didn’t just extend to the recorded music, we had to make sure the artists we chose
had great live shows as well.
We just created a spotify playlist on the “Wonderfront Festival” account on Spotify,
named Wonderfront Emerging Artists 2019. We encourage you to take a listen, as
we are confident you are going to find some artists you really take a liking to.
Whether it be The Knocks which will absolutely get you grooving, or Grandson
which many believe is the next carnation of Rage Against The Machine, or Moon
Taxi’s Americana vibe, or Ari Lennox or Allie X two of the hottest new female artists
on the scene, or anyone of J. Cole’s Dreamville artists like Earthgang or BAS, even
down to an artist like Cofresi who will blow you away with his live performance.
And if you haven’t been listening to Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike yet, you might want
to start. They are one of the top 3 DJ acts in the world right now. They have been
headlining Tomorrowland Festivals over in Europe and were the first DJ duo to win
the World’s #1 DJ Crown on the DJ Mag Top 100 DJ Poll. They are from Belgium and
have rarely played in the US only on a few major festivals like EDC Vegas and
Lollapalooza, and will be making their first west coast appearance at Wonderfront.
